Golden Rams Collect 5-4 Senior Day Victory Over Georgia Southwestern State University

ALBANY, Ga. - The Albany State University baseball team used a home field advantage to secure a 6-5 victory over Georgia Southwestern State University this evening. The Golden Rams honored the 2021 baseball senior that included Brock Rountree, Michael Reddick, Chasen Roulhac, Malik Barrington, Gavin Sloan, Jonathan Palmer and Kevin Bryant II.
 
The Hurricanes fall to 16-17 on the season while the Golden Rams improved to 12-7 to close out the season.
 
The Hurricanes open the top of the first inning scoring when John Sutton double to left field that scored Jonathan Martin. Matthew Mamatas grounded out to short stop scoring Hartfield to take a 2-0 lead. The Golden Rams held the Hurricanes scoreless for the next four innings. The Blue & Gold in the bottom of the fifth inning added runs starting with TJ Thomas flied out to the third baseman to score Will Barry. Lachlan Ross next tripled to left field to score Chasen Roulhac and Jonathan Palmer to give the Golden Rams a 3-2 lead. Georgia Southwestern would remain scoreless until the eighth inning when they collected a home run to tie the game. GSW when added a run in the top of the ninth inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Golden Rams answered in the bottom of the ninth inning when Ross singled to left field to score Chase Karn bring the score four all. Nate Lloyd then reached base on a fielder' choice to score TJ Thomas to take the 5-4 victory.  
 
GSW finished the contest outhitting ASU 7-6. 
 
Lachlan Ross led the Golden Rams with going two-for-four at the plate. Ross recorded three RBIs in the contest.
