ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State University men's basketball team suffered a tough 71-48 loss to the Golden Bears of Miles College on Thursday evening.
Jordan Simpson led the Golden Rams with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Travis Baker finished with adding nine points. Yves Fleuravil added seven points and 11 rebounds.
Both teams started the contest battling for the lead with the score being tied four times in the opening 11 minutes of play. The Golden Bears when took a 20-18 lead over the Golden Rams with 9:16 left in the first half. The Golden Bears would hold on the lead for the remainder of the contest. The Golden Rams then cut Miles College lead 32-22 on a layup by
Jordan Simpson.
Jordan Simpson closed out the scoring for the Golden Rams in the first half securing a basket with 1:31 left. The Golden Bears would then add two points to take a 38-26 lead at halftime.
The Golden Bears came out with the same momentum as the first half growing its lead 49-34 with 15:30 left in regulation.
Jordan Simpson secured a layup with 4:45 left in the contest to cut MC's lead, 65-45. Over the next remaining minutes of the contest the Golden Rams continued to fight adding three addition points in the contest. The Golden Bears would then cruise to a 71-48 victory over the Golden Rams.
On the evening, the Golden Rams connected on 39 percent shooting and grabbed 12 offensive boards of its 22-team total.
ASU will return to action on Friday afternoon as they travel to Mobile, Alabama for a matchup against the Badgers of Spring Hill College. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. (cst).
