ALBANY, Ga.- The Albany State women's softball team yielded a split decision to the Panthers of Clark Atlanta University. As a result, ASU dropped a 8-6 loss but securing a 13-5 victory to close out the series.

With the victory the Golden Rams improve to 3-9 overall. The Panthers improve to 2-12.

Clark Atlanta University (CAU) built an early lead in the top of the second inning.  The Panthers recorded two doubles and a single for a 3-0 edge. The Golden Rams answered with adding a run in the bottom of the second inning to cut CAU's lead 3-1. At the top of the third inning they plated two runs to take a 5-1 lead. Albany State answered at the bottom of the third inning with three runs to come within of the Panthers. Clark Atlanta would add its final three runs in the fourth inning. The Golden Rams collected its final runs in the remaining innings but wasn't enough with the Panthers collecting the victory. Â

Ciweya Tennison recorded two hits and three RBIs, and Herrera, Seay and Blanton all added two hits. The Golden Rams collected 13 hits and left seven runners left on base.
Sydney Pettus was the losing pitcher who pitched seven innings only allowing eighth runs, 13 hits and six strikeouts in the 39 batters faced.

Destiny Herrera started things off for the Golden Rams with a single to right field to score Ayers taking a 1-0 lead. The Golden Rams then added two more runs to close out the first inning with a 3-0 edge. CAU answered with plating a run in the top of the third inning to cut ASU's lead 3-1. ASU answered with adding a run in the bottom of the third inning to take a 4-1 advantage. The Panthers added another run un the fourth inning to bring the score 4-2. The Golden Rams collected nine runs in the fourth inning to take a 13-2 edge. The Panthers added three runs in the final innings falling 13-5. Â The Golden Rams had 13 hits, 13 runs and 10 LOBs.

Albany State will return to action when they host the Cougars of Columbus State University on Tuesday, March 30
th. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
