ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State University women's basketball team suffered a 85-29 loss to the Lady Tigers of Benedict College this afternoon.
With the win the Lady Tigers improve to 11-3. Albany State drops to 0-10.
Benedict held Albany State scoreless for the entire first quarter as the Golden Rams missed all nine field goal attempts and two free-throw attempts in the period. Albany State finally got on the board with 9:22 left in the second period, and the Lady Tigers had a 41-5 lead at the half. The Lady Tigers continued to add points in the remaining quarters to take the 85-29 victory.
Alexandria Booker led the Golden Rams with seven points and one rebound.
The Lady Tigers held Albany State to 17.4 percent shooting (8-of-46). The Golden Rams finished the contest shooting 50 percent from the free throw line. Albany State University forced eight Benedict turnovers. ASU secured eight second chance points.
The Golden Rams will host the Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State University on March 3-5. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
