ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State University women's basketball team suffered a 74-44 loss to the Lady Tigers of Benedict College on Friday.
With the win the Lady Tigers improve to 10-3. Albany State drops to 0-9.
The Lady Tigers opened the scoring and never trailed. The Golden Rams was led by Gemiya Bowman who finished the contest with 11 points and one rebound.
Benedict used an eight-point run late in the first quarter and had a 20-12 lead. The Lady Tigers then used an 11-0 run in the second quarter to take a 31-14 lead after a 3-pointer by the Lady Tigers. Benedict had a 41-23 lead at the half.
The Lady Tigers opened the second half with eight straight points for a 49-23 lead. Benedict then added 12 points in the final quarter to cruise to a 74-44 victory.
The Golden Rams finished the contest shooting 61 percent from the free throw line. Albany State University forced 20 Benedict turnovers. ASU secured five second chance points.
The Golden Rams will host the Lady Tigers of Benedict College again on Saturday, February 27
th. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
