ALBANY, Ga. – Albany State University (0-2) fell to the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern State University (L: 12-0, 22-0) in doubleheader action at home to open the 2021 season.
The hurricanes opened the contest with adding one run to take a 1-0 advantage. The Golden Rams remained scoreless the entire contest. The Hurricanes plated seven runs in the seventh inning to take an 8-0 lead. In the final inning the Hurricanes added five runs to cruise to a 12-0 victory. The Golden Rams finished the contest with one hit.
Georgia Southwestern entered the second game with the momentum adding one run to take a 1-0 advantage. In the second inning the Hurricanes plated three runs to grow its lead 4-0. GSW in the next inning added one run to take a 5-0 lead. In the final innings of the contest the Hurricanes plated 17 runs to take the 22-0 victory. The Golden Rams remained scoreless in the contest. ASU finished with adding three hits and seven errors.
The Golden Rams will return to action on Wednesday, March 10th as they travel to Americus, Georgia for a matchup against Georgia Southwestern State University. First pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m.
