TUSKEGEE, ALABAMA – Tuskegee University's Gregg Boyd hit the game-winning three pointer with twelve seconds left in regulation to lift the Golden Tigers to an 81-79 victory over Albany State University men's basketball team on Sunday afternoon.
ASU (1-3) collected a one-point advantage (37-36) with 17 minutes left in the contest. The Golden Rams rallied to deadlock the score at 78-78 with 12 seconds remaining on a layup by Rodney Hunter. Tuskegee answered with a three pointer by Gregg Boyd with 12 seconds left in the contest. The loss marks the Golden Rams third this season.
Albany State University got off to a fast start as it ran out to an early 13-8 advantage in the opening 10 minutes of the game. The Golden Rams grew its lead on a free throw by
Jordan Simpson (25-16) at the 5:54 mark but it wouldn't last as the Golden Tigers added points to cut ASU's lead 32-30 at the half.
The Golden Rams had a total of four players finish with double figure scoring totals.
Joshua Jerome led the way with 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc.
Malik Parker notched 17 points, making 5-of-17 from the field and added two rebounds.
Jarmarcis Nunally tabbed 16 points and three boards. Rounding out the double figure scoring for the Golden Rams was
Jordan Simpson who contributed 15 points and six rebounds.
The Golden Rams will return back to action as they travel to Columbia, South Carolina for contest against Allen University on Friday, February 12
th with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
