ALBANY, Ga. (March 9, 2019)- The Albany State University baseball team managed 10 hits in a doubleheader loss to the University of Tampa on Saturday afternoon at the Golden Rams' Field.

In game one, the Golden Rams was the first to get on the board with a single to center field by
Ernis Reyes that plated
Kelvin Wimbish. The Golden Rams did a good job holding on to the lead until the fifth inning. In the top of the fifth inning the Spartans plated two runs to take a 2-1 lead. The Golden Rams answered in the bottom of the sixth when they collected a run to bring the score two all. UT answered in the top of the seventh inning with securing three runs to cruise to a 5-2 victory.Â

Malik Barrington pitched five innings while striking out four. He gave up just two runs off four hits.

Michael Reddick pitched four innings while striking out two. He gave up just three runs off five hits.

In the nightcap, the Spartans started the game adding runs in the first three innings. The Golden Rams answered with adding one run in the bottom of the third inning cutting UT's lead 3-1. The Spartans and the Golden Rams remained scoreless over the next three innings. The University of Tampa then added one more run to secure the 4-1 victory. Â
