ALBANY, Ga. (March 7, 2019) – The Albany State University women's tennis team returns to action on Friday as they host NCAA Division III opponent Huntingdon College at the Courts at Albany State University West Campus.
The Golden Rams' match against Huntingdon College (2-2) gets underway at 1 p.m.
Following its performance at Wesleyan College, Albany State (4-1) secured an 8-1 victory on March 2
nd. During the contest Freshman Ana Maria Farero (Bogota, Columbia) won a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 1 singles for the Golden Rams, while junior
Jordan Foston (Atlanta, Georgia) was a 7-5, 3-6, 10-2 victor at No. 3 singles. Junior
Alani Gauthier (Marietta, Georgia) topped her opponent, 6-2, 7-6 at No. 4 singles while Freshman
Keyera McDowell (Savannah, Georgia) picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles.
Jenna Wade was the winner at No. 6 singles.
As a team, Huntingdon College enters the match coming off a close 5-4 loss to Point University on March 6
th. Three Lady Hawks earned singles wins with Josie Waddell (No. 2) winning 6-2, 6-3, Zoya Robinson (No. 3) winning 6-0, 6-2 and Kacey Stephens (No. 6) winning 6-3, 6-2.
ABOUT THE SERIES: The Golden Rams hold a 0-4 all-time record against Huntingdon College. The last time the two schools met was on March 24, 2018, where the Hawks of Huntingdon College collected a 0-9 victory over Albany State University.
UP NEXT: Albany State University women's tennis team will travel to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina to participate in the 2019 Spring Tennis Fest. The Golden Rams will face East Stroudsburg University on Thursday, March 14
th at 8:15 a.m. The match will be played at the Van Der Meer Shipyard Racquet Club which is located at 116 Shipyard Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928.
Following the contest the Golden Rams will wrap up on Friday, March 15
th as they face Wisconsin Lutheran College at 8:30 a.m. The match will be played at the Hilton head resort which is located at 663 William Hilton Pkwy, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928.
