Golden Rams Yielded Split Decision to Benedict College In Final Doubleheader Action

COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 31, 2019) – The visiting Albany State University baseball team split their doubleheader against host Benedict College on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Tigers Field. Albany State took the first game 5-4, while the Tigers won the second game 9-5.


With the split the Golden Rams moves to (19-16, 11-1 SIAC) to collect its first conference loss of the season. The Tigers of Benedict College improves to (9-9, 6-4 SIAC) on the season.
 
  Chasen Roulhac led the Golden Rams. He went 2-for-4 while driving in two runs. Roulhac also closed the game on the mound for the Albany State, pitching two thirds of an inning, walking one, striking out one, and allowing one hit. Roulhac would end up getting his second save of the season for his efforts. Malik Barrington was credited the win for the Golden Rams, his sixth on the year. Darian Williams collected the loss for Benedict, dropping to 1-1 on the season, after allowing seven hits, five runs, and four walks, while striking out four in five innings of work.

In the final game, Bradon O'Connor led the Tigers after going 2-for-3, with one RBI, three runs scored, one walk, and four stolen bases. Avery Roth led the effort for ASU after going 1-for-3, with one RBI and one run. The Golden Rams wasted no time with plating two runs in the first two innings of the contest to take a2-1 lead. Benedict answered with adding five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 6-3 edge over the Golden Rams. Despite a late rally by Albany State adding three runs in the final inning of the contest The Tigers were able to walk away with the 9-5 victory. On the mound, Blaylor Galice pitched two innings, allowing six runs, four hits, and two walks while striking out three. Tre Turner wrapped thing up for ASU pitching the final inning, recording one hit by pitch.


The Golden Rams will return to action this Wednesday as they travel to Columbus, Georgia for a non-conference matchup against Columbus State University, with the first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.
