Women's Tennis Yields 0-3 Decision at Spring Tennis Fest

ALBANY, Ga. (March 15, 2019)-The Albany State University tennis team yielded a 0-3 overall decision at the 2019 Spring Tennis Fest on March 14-15thin Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. 
 
The Golden Rams (4-4) despite the decision put forth a good performance. The Warriors recorded five individual victories against the Golden Rams. Albany State collected wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 5 singles against the Warriors.
 
Albany State's LaToya Boyd and Alani Gauthier tallied a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 spot before the Golden Rams forfeited the third doubles match.
 
Zardet delivered a 6-2, 6-2 win for ESU at the top singles position against Ana Forero, while McCluskey defeated Boyd 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. Sophomore Amanda Jackson and Lauren Morrissey tallied wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions for ESU to grow its advantage.
 
Jackson would be victorious 6-3, 6-3 against Jordan Foston, while Morrissey claimed a 6-2, 6-0 win against Gauthier. Briana Young won at No. 6 singles via forfeit for the Warriors. Albany State's Keyera McDowell won 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to give the Golden Rams a win.
 
Albany State University 2 Shepherd University 5
Albany State then faced Shepherd University where the Rams collected a 5-2 victory over the Gold Rams. 
 
The Golden Rams recorded one individual victory against Shepherd. Albany State also collected No.1 and No. 2 doubles victories for the Golden Rams. 
 
Ana Forero and Jordan Foston tallied a 6-3 victory over Z. O'Neal/ N. Barley. Albany State's LaToya Boyd and Alani Gauthier tallied a 7-6 victory at the No. 2 spot before the Golden Rams forfeited the third doubles match.
 
On the single side Ana Forero delivered a 6-3, 6-1 win for ASU at the top single points. The Rams of Shepherd then collected a four singles victories to walk away with a 5-2 victory.
 
Albany State University 3 Wisconsin Lutheran University 4 
In the final contest of the Spring Tennis Fest ASU fell 4-3 to Wisconsin Lutheran College on March 15th. The Warriors started out by sweeping doubles play, with Amanda Wietrzny and Hannah Gerbing winning 8-3 at the No. 1 singles position, then WLC took the No. 2 doubles position by a score of 8-6. WLC earned a win by default at the No. 3 doubles position for its third doubles win.
 
Ana Forero  earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 singles position for ASU, while LaToya Boyd won 7-6, 6-7, 1-0 at the No. 2 singles position. Jordan Foston collected a 7-5, 6-4, 1-0 victory to close out the scoring for the Golden Rams. WLC then collects the No. 5 win to clinch the match victory.
 
Coming Up: Albany State University women's tennis team will travel to Mobile, Alabama for the SIAC Tennis Roundup on March 21-23rd. All matches will be played at Mobile [Copeland-Cox] Tennis Center which is located at 851 Gaillard Dr, Mobile, AL 3660.
