FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Albany State University opened its women's tennis season with a 5-2 road win against rival Fort Valley State University on Saturday.
Jordan Foston and
Lindsay Ashford teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, to clinch the doubles point for the Golden Rams and then added wins at No. 5 and No. 4 singles, respectively to help lock up the team victory. Ana Maria Forero also recorded a win in singles action, defeating Brishon Bridges, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles action.
ASU (1-0) benefited from forfeit wins at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
The Golden Rams will return to action Feb. 21-23 at the first of two SIAC Round Up events. The three-day event will be hosted in Fort Valley.
