ALBANY, Ga. | The Albany State softball hosted their first games of the season on Friday as they took on Thomas University in a non-conference doubleheader.
Game 1
The Golden Rams struck early in the first contest, pushing three runs across the plate in the first inning, highlighted by a two RBI triple from Lavette Tucker.
Gaby Mora got two runs back for Thomas in the 5th inning with a 2-run home run.
A RBI single from Amaya Terry in the bottom of the 6th made the lead 4-2 in favor of the home team.
Thomas would capture their first lead of the game in the top of the 7th when Addyson Mauldin connected for a 3-run home run.
After Tucker led off the bottom of the 7th inning with a double, Rebecca Blanton drove her in to tie the game on a fielder's choice. Jaylyn Norman would then win the game for ASU with a ground ball to third base that scored Jala Stewart.
Aryn McGowan (1-3) pitched a complete game in the win for ASU.
Game 2
The Night Hawks got their revenge in game two, belting out 15 hits and scoring eight runs while hitting .454 as a team.
The Golden Rams managed just four hits and scored their only run in the 6th inning when Tucker hit a solo home run.
Lauren Lowery (1-3) pitched all 7.0 innings in the loss.
ASU (2-6) is back on the road Tuesday, February 12th, when they travel to Alabama to take on Auburn University-Montgomery in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 pm CST.
