JACKSON, Tenn. – The Albany State University women's basketball team fell to host Lane College, losing 47-38 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Dec. 14.
 
The Golden Rams (1-9 overall, 0-3 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) were outrebounded 49-41 by the Dragons.
 
The Dragons played well defensively winning the turnover battle 21-18. However, Albany State was only able to score seven (7) points off turnovers while the Dragons totaled 18 points off turnovers.
 
Albany State shot just 23.1 percent from the floor (12-of-52), while the Dragons shot 31 percent (19-of-60) from the field in the game.
 
The Dragons opened the game with a 4-3 lead before the Golden Rams tied the game twice in the first quarter to with both teams securing 10 points each. Both teams continued to battle in the second quarter for the lead but Lane College capped lead by a free throw from Ra'keta Shelton, to go in to halftime leading 24-18.
 
Albany State opened the third quarter cutting the Dragons lead by eight 29-21 with 6:08 left on a 3-pointer from Passion Thomas. Lane College responded ending the period with a 37-30 lead.
 
Down the stretch, Lane College outscored the Golden Rams 10-8 in the fourth period for the host to cruise to the 47-38 victory.
 
Senior Alexandria James led the Golden Rams Falcons with 17 points each. James was 7-of-16 from the floor, 1-of-3 from beyond the arc and a perfect 2-of-2 form the free-throw line. Norman was 2-of-11 from the floor and 6-of-12 from the free throw line.
 
Passion Thomas contributed seven points and one rebound, while Ciera Norman chipped in 10 points and four rebounds to go along with four steals. Alexandria James grabbed a team-high six rebounds in the loss.
 
Albany State will host the Thorobreds of Kentucky State University for a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Thursday, Dec. 19. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
