ALBANY, Ga. | The Lions of Paine College visited The Arena at West Campus on Monday night to take on the Albany State Golden Rams.
After falling behind 7-0 early, ASU used a big first half where they shot 54 percent (14-of-26) from the field and ended the frame on a 28-12 run to build a 41-26 halftime lead.
The Golden Rams were especially hot from the free throw line, making 9-of-11 shots in the first twenty minutes.
The halftime deficit proved insurmountable for the visitors as even outscoring the hosts by eight points in the second half was not enough as Albany State won the matchup, 82-75.
Four players scored in double figures for Albany State (9-13, 8-4). Jared Harrington led the way with 19 points. Randy McClure finished with 17 points. Tyrell Williams added 13 points and Tylen Walker had 11 points.
Cameron Gaines paced Paine (5-14, 4-8) with 24 points while Charles Moore added 23 points.
The Golden Rams are again at home on Saturday, February 2nd, when they host Morehouse College. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
