WEST FLORIDA BLANKS ASU SOCCER 5-0

ALBANY-The University of West Florida scored four goals in the second half to claim a 5-0 shutout of Albany State University in soccer action on Friday night.

Grace Busby scored twice in the second half; once on an assist from Sam Waarum at 59:39 and approximately two minutes later cashed in with a solo shot to extend the Argonauts lead to 3-0.

West Florida (3-0) would seal the deal with two more goals scored within a short time frame; Robyn Herman cashed in on a rebound at 68:50 and Sam Waarum later picked up her second assist on the night when she connected with Lee Ducharme at the 70:25 mark.

Abby Whiteside went the distance for the Rams at goalkeeper, finishing the contest with ten saves.

Although their offensive attempts were limited, the Golden Rams put up a solid defensive effort in the first half. West Florida attempted 14 shots but only managed a header score from Jessica Quixley at the 10:03 mark. The Argonauts clung to a 1-0 advantage at the intermission.

Alesha Kostrzewa and Brittanie Evans accounted for ASU's shots on goal, both of which came in the first half.

Albany State (1-2) will return to action on Sunday afternoon at home against the University of West Alabama. Game time is scheduled for 1pm on West Campus.
