SPRING HILL TOPPLES ASU VOLLEYBALL IN THREE SETS

Golden Rams Slip to 0-4 on the Year

VALDOSTA- Spring Hill College held off a late surge to defeat Albany State University in straight sets 25-9, 25-16, 25-18 Friday evening at the Valdosta State Volleyball Invitational.

With the loss the Golden Rams slip to 0-4 on the young season while Spring Hill moves to 3-0 overall. Albany State will return to action tomorrow at noon against the host Valdosta Blazers.

The Badgers led the entire way over the duration of the first two sets, winning 25-9 and 25-16.

In the final stanza, the Golden Rams turned their offense around as the set began with five ties and two leaded changes. Albany State held a three point lead on three occasions (8-5, 9-6, 10-7) until the Badgers took the lead for good with a 5-0 run. Spring Hill then used a 7-2 spurt to make the score 19-13 on a kill by Emily Greim.

The Badgers would later close out the final set 25-18.

Jannai Cheeks paced the Golden Rams with 7 kills and 12 digs while Kassandra Fairly topped all performers with 10 kills.
