WARHAWKS SCORE LATE; RALLY PAST ALBANY STATE 4-2

Auburn-Montgomery, ASU Split 2018 Season Series

MONTGOMERY, Ala. Auburn University- Montgomery scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to lift the Warhawks past Albany State University 4-2 in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Warhawks took the lead for the second time in the contest after getting a pair of runners on via a walk and a hit by pitch. Three batters later, a double to left center from Matthew Zielonko cleared the bases and AUM went in front 4-2 accounting for the game's final point spread.

With the victory the two teams split the 2018 season series, each winning on their respective home fields.  Albany State bested the Warhawks 11-1 on February 22nd in Albany.

With the Golden Rams down 0-2, Johnathan Cirullo's RBI single up the middle scored Quantic Dodson-Williams from third base. Riliani Familia stepped in to single through the left side, sending Trey McMillan home and tying the game 2-2.

AUM scored the first runs of the game in the third and fourth innings. Donovan Chandler accounted for the game's first run off a double from Nathan Langley. The Warhawks then loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth inning and pushed the lead to 2-0 on an RBI single from Aaron Hill. The Rams turned a double play to escape the inning.

The Warkhawks lift their overall record to 16-22 while ASU slips to 16-15 on the year.

The Golden Rams will return to action in a three-game SIAC set against Morehouse College beginning with a doubleheader at 1pm on Friday in Atlanta.
