Kentucky State Takes Two of Three Game Series With ASU

March 17, 2018

ALBANY- Kentucky State University improved to 9-11 overall and 3-2 in SIAC play with an 8-4 win over Albany State University Saturday afternoon at West Campus Field.

With the victory the Thorobreds took two out of the three game series and Chae Butler pitched 7.1 innings to improve to 2-0 as a starter.

The game was tied at one all until Tyler Morris hit a two run shot in the bottom of the third, giving the Rams their first lead of the game 3-2. The lead however was short lived as the Thorobreds would snatch the momentum away, orchestrating a five-run barrage in the top of the fourth.

With the score tied at three and the bases loaded, Elijah Collins hit a single to score Russell Sims. Then Brandon Story reached on a fielder's choice which scored two more runs to give KSU a 5-2 advantage. Another RBI single from Cameron Starks helped the Thorobreds to 6-3 lead at middle of the fourth.

Kentucky State would tack on two more runs in their next at bat while ASU was held without a run for the next four innings. The Rams final score came on an RBI sacrifice from Chasen Roulhac in the bottom of the eighth.

After KSU's seized the lead in the fourth, the Golden Rams would strand a total of seven runners.

ASU will return to action at home on March 20-21 when they play host to West Florida. Tuesday's game is slated to begin at 6pm at West Campus Field.
