SOFTBALL WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT, DEFEATS KENTUCKY STATE 16-9

JASPER, AL- The Albany State University softball team continued its hot hitting in a 16-9 win over Kentucky State University on Friday at the SIAC Crossover.

Four Golden Rams collected three hits apiece and as a team ASU finished with a total of 21 in the contest.

Albany State trailed 5-4 after the fourth but put up three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take their first lead of the game. After Keyanna Dawson advanced to third on a wild pitch, Lavette Tucker hit a single to center field to score Dawson and tie the game at 5 all. Jala Stewart then doubled to center field to drive in Tucker and later Aryn McGowan came in on a single from Mikyah Harris.

Kentucky State had a dismal six errors in the game, three of which came during ASU's half of the seventh in which Rams scored 5 runs.

Meghan Shepard, Brianna Murillo, McGowan and Harris all had three hits in the win for ASU. The Golden Rams will wrap up day two against LeMoyne-Owen College.
