ASU SOFTBALL SWEEPS DAY ONE OF SIAC CROSSOVER

Golden Rams Remain Unblemished in Conference Play



JASPER, AL- The Albany State University softball team moved to 5-0 in conference play with a 10-7 win over Tuskegee University Thursday evening at Memorial Park.

The Golden Rams opened the game with three runs in their first at bat. Lavette Tucker singled to score Jade Williams and two batters later Mikyah Harris hit a 2RBI double to bring in Tucker and Brianna Murillo.

The Golden Rams held the Tigers to only two runs over the next four innings while ASU put up two runs each over the second, third and fourth. Facing a 9-2 deficit, Tuskegee opened their half of the fifth inning with three straight hits, including a double from Cecelia Tennessee one of two from her on the afternoon. TU finished the inning with 3 runs, on 4 hits leaving one runner stranded.

The Rams put up a run in the sixth courtesy of an error by the Golden Tigers. Tuskegee resumed their rally by scoring two more in the bottom of the inning to close their deficit to three and ultimately the final score of 10-7.

The Golden Tigers scattered 13 hits but were unable to maintain any momentum in the comeback attempt due to five errors in the game.

The Golden Rams (8-13, SIAC 5-0) will return to action Friday against Kentucky State at 12:15pm and LeMoyne-Owen at 2:30pm; both games are Central Standard Time.
