MCGOWAN FANS 15 IN SOFTBALL WIN OVER LANE COLLEGE

Golden Rams Open SIAC Crossover With Win Over Dragons

JASPER, AL- The Albany State softball team opened play at the SIAC crossover with a 5-2 win over the Lane College Dragons Thursday afternoon at Memorial Park.

Aryn MCGowan threw a complete game, allowing only hour hits while striking out 15 in route to her fourth win as a starter this season. At the plate she was 1 for 3, the hit going for an RBI double in the bottom of the third to give the Rams their 5-2 advantage.

Lane got on the scoreboard first, Breana Glass doubled to right center to score runs from second and third for an early 2-0 lead. Beyond that inning, the Dragons were held in check, scoreless and only managed only two more hits the rest of the way.

Mikyah Harris hit a two run dinger in the Rams' half of the second to tie the game at 2 and in the bottom of the third got three scores, including two behind a homer from Brianna Murillo.

The Dragons fall to 1-4 overall while the Golden Rams raise their mark to 7-13 and 4-0 in the SIAC.

ASU will take on Tuskegee at 5:45pm CST to wrap up their play for day one at the crossover.
