ASU LADY RAMS ROLL PAST PAINE COLLEGE 75-58

ALBANY-The Albany State University women's basketball team ran past Paine College 75-58 Monday night at West Campus Arena.
The Golden Rams, behind four double figure scorers, improve to 13-12 overall and 9-5 in SIAC play. They also sweep the season series with the Lions who remain winless on the season at 0-19 (SIAC 0-13).
The Lady Rams led from the opening tip and by the close of the first quarter, had held the Lions to just three made field goals in route to a 17-6 edge. Paine made up some ground in the second quarter, outscoring ASU by a basket but faced a 27-18 deficit at the intermission.
Kayla Green led all scorers with a game high 18 points.
Ashley Johnson, who went 3 of 5 from beyond the three point arc, chipped in with 13 points.
A layup by Green with 7:00 minutes remaining in the game gave the Lady Rams their largest lead of the night, a 26 point spread 64-38. The Golden Rams outscored the Lions 32-20 in the paint and put up 33 points off of Paine's turnovers.
Pedrica Bain was the only starter to net double figures for Paine with 13 points.
The Golden Rams will battle their rival Fort Valley State University on Saturday, November 10
th in Fort Valley, Georgia. Game time is scheduled for 6pm.
