ALBANY-Albany State University wrapped a two day, three game series with Emmanuel College on Saturday at West Campus baseball field

The Golden Rams picked up their first win of 2018 with a 9-2 victory in game one before falling in the nightcap 8-4. Roman Oliu earned his first win as a starter in the first game of the day, while the Lions' Dalton Kuhn was the winning pitcher for game two.

The Lions committed a combined eight errors on Saturday, four in each contest.

Albany State 9 Emmanuel College 2

The Golden Rams leveraged their first two at bats to capture a 9-2 triumph in game one. With two runners on in the bottom of the first, Riliani Familia cleared the bases with a single to put ASU on the scoreboard. Three batters (and bases loaded) later a fielder's choice forced an out at the plate but Avery Roth came through with a 2RBI single, to give the Rams a 4-0 lead.

ASU added two more runs in the second, another courtesy of a hit (double) from Familia followed by a bases loaded walk that scored him and the Rams were up 6 nil.

The Lions' first score of the day came in the top of the fourth when Jacob Teston hit a homer to right field. The visitors could would not maintain any momentum as the Rams put up two more runs in the bottom half of the inning. Both teams added a run in the seventh inning for the final point spread.

Familia went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and Oliu allowed just two hits in four innings from the mound.

Emmanuel College 8 Albany State 4

The Lions held off a late Albany State rally for an 8-4 win in game two. They responded to a furious run by the Golden Rams in the fifth inning by scoring three insurance runs in the top of the sixth to secure the victory.

Emmanuel had a four run lead heading to the bottom of the fifth inning but the Golden Rams fought back scoring three runs, on three hits and one Lion error to cut their deficit to one.

Riliani Familia's one out single scored  Chasen Roulhac from second base to make the score 5-2. Two batters later, Theo Smith singled thorough the right side to drive in Familia and advance Tyler Morris to third base.

Trey McMillian's fly ball to center brought in Morris and the Rams trailed 5-4. The Lions then scored three runs on a hit and one ASU error in their half of the sixth inning.

Albany State will hit the road on February 6th as they travel to face Valdosta State in Valdosta, Georgia. Game time is scheduled for 4pm.
