ASU Captures Win in Final Tune-up Before SIAC Tournament

ALBANY-Albany State University placed four players in double figures on the way to a 69-60 win over Tuskegee University Friday night at West Campus Arena.

The Golden Rams led from the start of the game and held a 40-24 lead at the break.

ASU expanded their lead to nineteen, 51-32 at the 14:53 mark on the second half but Tuskegee (7-21, SIAC 5-14) would make a late charge and cut their deficit to 57-52 with 6:20 to go. The Tigers then suffered a nearly four minute scoring drought as ASU would hold on for the win.

The Golden Rams led from the start of the game and held a 40-24 lead at the break.

Randy McClure and Tylen Walker scored 13 apiece, Jared Harrington went for a team best 15 points and Michael Green chipped in with 10.

Harrington led the charge for the Golden Rams' bench play as ASU outscored the Golden Tigers' reserves 29-6. In the first half, the Rams shot at nearly 50% from the floor, including 4 of 7 from beyond the three point arc and outscored Tuskegee 12-0 in second chance points and 10-0 in fast break scores. Walker was a perfect 5 of 5 from the field in the first half including two of ASU's three pointers.

Albany State also capitalized on some sloppy play from Tuskegee in the first half. The Golden Rams had 12 first half turnovers which spotted the Rams 16 points.

The Golden Rams will take the floor again next Tuesday at the SIAC tournament in Birmingham, AL.
