Golden Rams Finish Regular Season in Second Place in the SIAC East

FAIRFIELD, AL- The Albany State University women's basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 71-60 road win over Miles College on Thursday night at Knox-Windham Gymnasium.

The Golden Rams placed three players in double figures in the win over the Golden Bears, who slip to 8-19 overall. Elesha Foster led all scorers with a game high 20 points while Tyra Thompson turned in her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 boards. Kayla Green chipped in with a 12 point effort for ASU.

The Golden Rams' largest lead of the night came with 8:53 left in the third quarter after a Kayla Green jumper put ASU ahead 50-32. ASU held a nine point advantage at the close of three quarters and had to fight off a late charge by Miles over the last ten minutes. The Golden Bears trimmed their deficit to four with 3:12 left to play but ASU answered with an 8-0 run to close the game out.

Victoria Sutton was the only Miles player in double figures with 11 points.

Albany State trailed only one time, after Jasmine Hollis scored the game's opening bucket. The Golden Rams led 23-19 at the end of the first quarter but put some distance between themselves and the home team, closing the second stanza on an 11-4 run to hold a 14 point edge (46-32) at the intermission.

The Golden Rams will take the floor again next Thursday at the 2018 SIAC Tournament in Birmingham, AL.
