COLUMBUS, Ga. | Trailing by nine at the half, the Golden Rams outscored the host Cougars by nine in the second frame, including a layup by Mario Young with eight seconds remaining to force overtime.
A slow start to the extra period ultimately doomed ASU as it took over three and a half minutes to score their first points. By then, Columbus State had built a five point lead that grew to six with under a minute left to play that proved too much as the host school won, 79-76.
Albany State (3-5) benefited from a big night out of senior guard Jared Harrington. In 31 minutes of action, Harrington scored 21 points for the Golden Rams. Napoleon Harris snagged a game-high 16 rebounds.Â
Tyrell Williams posted a double-double with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and 12 rebounds.
Young finished with 13 points including going 9-for-10 from the charity stripe.Â
Landrius Horton scored a game-high 29 points for Columbus State (4-1).
