VALDOSTA, Ga. | The Golden Rams opened the 2018-2019 campaign on Friday night, taking on West Florida as part of the Valdosta State University Invitational. The Argonauts were too much for Albany State, winning the game by a score of 72-43.
Facing just a 1-point deficit after the first quarter, the Golden Rams struggled mightily in the second period, getting outscored 16-5. For the game, Albany State posted a field goal percentage of 23% on 13-of-56 shooting.Â
ASU won the turnover battle, giving the ball up only 14 times to West Florida's 17. The Golden Rams also saw a big contribution from their bench who contributed 27 points.
Ciera Norman was the leading scorer for Albany State (0-1). Norman finished with seven points on 3-of-7 shooting.
Halee Nieman had a game-high 20 points for West Florida (1-0).
The Golden Rams are back in action on Saturday, November 10th, as they take on Valdosta State at The Complex. Tipoff is set for 2:00 pm.Â
