ALBANY, Ga. | Albany State hosted their annual Senior Night on Friday and celebrated this year's senior class by defeating Paine 3-1 (25-12, 25-21, 18-25, 25-12).
The win was the fourth in a row for the Golden Rams (9-13, 9-4) Â and places them in a tie for first place in the SIAC East Division with Clark Atlanta heading into the final week of conference play.
All three of Albany State's seniors played pivotal roles in the victory. Keonna Hobbs of Jonesboro, Ga. led the team with a season-high 18 kills. Ciara Chapman, a Cocoa, Fla. product, proved again why she is one of league's top setters as she collected 35 assists. A native of Atlanta, Ga., Dominique Austin paced the defense with 10 digs and zero errors on 16 reception attempts.
Lanica Phillips and Shavonne Boggs each registered seven kills for Paine (9-7, 5-5).
Albany State is back at home on Sunday, October 28th, when they host SIAC foe Fort Valley State. Game time is set for 3:00 pm at the HPER Complex.
