ORANGEBURG, SC- Albany State University placed four of five starters in double figures as the Rams cruised past Claflin University 71-62 Monday night at Tullis Arena.
 
Jared Harrington scored a game high 17 points off the bench for Golden Rams. Michael Green put up 11 points while Jason Snearl, Tylen Walker and Randy McClure each scored 10 points apiece.
 
ASU dominated the boards with a 47-30 rebounding edge over Claflin and the Panthers trailed the Rams 35-23 at the intermission.
 
The Rams led from the opening tip and held a convincing 21-point advantage with 12:47 left in the contest. With Albany State ahead 63-46 with 5:06 left, the Panthers would orchestrate a 13-2 run and managed to cut their deficit to just six with under three minutes to go.
 
The Rams then got clutch free throws from Tyler Walker and Jason Snearl and a timely tip-in from Rahdin Hughes to seal the win. Albany State also held the Panthers (17-5, SIAC 10-4) scoreless from the field the final 2:38 of regulation.
 
ASU also held Claflin to 4-14 from beyond the three-point arc and limited the Panthers to only 35% shooting in the game. Timothy Christian paced Claflin with a team high 11 points.
 
The Golden Rams will return home next Monday when they play host to Paine College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm at West Campus Arena.
