Lady Golden Rams Improve to 4-0 in Division Play

September 28, 2017

ALBANY, GA- Jannai Cheeks finished with a match high 11 kills at the Albany State University Lady Golden Rams disposed of Paine College in straight sets Thursday night at HPER Gymnasium.

The Lady Golden Rams have now won 6 of their last 7 matches.

ASU finished the match in just over an hour with the scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-14. Brittianni Phillips put up a 9 kill, solo block and an assisted block effort.

Chelona Holmes contributed 7 kills versus no hitting errors while Jahkishma Soto chipped in with a match best 3 service aces and 37 assists.

Paine College slips to 1-11 on the year and remains winless in SIAC.

As a team Albany State bested the Lady Lions in kills 43 to 14 and in digs 33-25. The Lady Golden Rams totaled double digits as a team in each set, including 17 in the opening set and also put 10 service aces. The Lady Lions canceled their offensive attack with 14 errors against their 14 kills.

Shavonne Boggs led the Lady Lions with 4 kills and defensively Aleaha Faulk put up 8 digs.
