Lady Golden Rams Complete Season Sweep of Lady Wildcats

ALBANY, GA- The Albany State University Lady Golden Rams defeated Fort Valley State University in four sets on Tuesday night at HPER Gymnasium.
Albany State has now won three straight, and seven of their last eight matches. They captured the season sweep of the Lady Wildcats on Tuesday night, three sets to one, 25-20, 19-25, 25-8, 25-12.
Chelona Holmes continued her stellar play for ASU, topping all performers with a match high 16 kills. Jalesia McClenton paced the Golden Rams' service game posting a season best 6 aces, three of which came during a 7-0 run in the third, which ASU took 25-8 to go up 2-1.
Justice Howard also registered double digits in kills with 10.
The Lady Wildcats slip to 3-12 overall and 2-9 in SIAC play. As a team they finished the game with one more error (21) than kills (20).
ASU hit a negative percentage (-.074) in the second set, which FVSU took by a score of 25-19. The Lady Golden Rams rebounded to hit 40% in the third and an impressive 50% in the close out set to take the match. In the final set both Holmes and
Jahkishma Soto put up strong service games, serving for five points apiece in their respective rotations.
