Lady Golden Rams Sweep Season Series With Lady Tigers

COLUMBIA, SC- For the second time this season the Albany State University volleyball team rallied from behind to defeat Benedict College in five sets.

With the win Albany State improves to 7-6 overall and 7-3 in the SIAC.

After dropping the first two sets 25-16 and 26-24, ASU took the next three and the match 25-15, 25-18, 15-10.

The Lady Golden Rams were led by the trio of Chelona Holmes, Justice Howard and Jannai Cheeks who combined for 42 of the team's 56 kills. Holmes finished with a game and season high 16 kills while Howard and Cheeks contributed 14 and 12 kills, respectively.

ASU service game played a big part in their come from behind win. They posted 13 as a team with Holmes and Soto contributing 4 aces apiece. The Lady Golden Rams held a slight edge in digs over Benedict 69-61 and held the Lady Tigers to ten or less team kills over the final three sets.

Benedict, who was paced by 15 kills from Adrionna Washington, slips to 5-6 overall and 5-5 in SIAC play.
