Lady Rams lose SIAC East title game to Claflin

ORANGEBURG, S.C.- The Albany State Lady Rams will enter the SIAC tournament as the SIAC East Division runner-up and a number two seed. ASU lost its chance to be the top team when it was defeated by Claflin University 6-1.
 
With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to 23-21 overall and 17-3 in the SIAC. Claflin improves to 29-18, 17-2. The Lady Panthers claimed the SIAC East title and number one seed for the tournament.
 
Albany State found itself in an early deficit they could not erase. Claflin took a 6-0 lead after the first two inning.
 
The Lady Rams offense continued to struggle as the game progressed. The Lady Rams lone run came in the fourth inning when Toni Coleman scored off a wild pitch.
 
The Lady Rams only had three hits for the entire game. They also had two errors and six runners left on base.
 
Albany State will return to action when it competes in the 2017 SIAC Women's Softball Championship Tournament. The event will be held May 4-6 in Hephzibah, Ga. at the Diamond Lakes Regional Park.
