Lady Rams, Columbus State swap defensive duels

ALBANY, Ga.- The Albany State women's softball team and visiting Columbus State didn't put on an offensive display for the fans in attendance. However, the guests were treated to a large amount of solid defensive plays by both teams.
                      
ASU dropped the first contest 1-0 before taking the second game by the score of 2-0.
 
With the split, the Lady Rams now own a 23-18 overall record. The Lady Cougars are 27-21-1.
 
Columbus State 1, Albany State 0
 
Columbus State scored the only run of the game in the top of the fourth inning. Brianna Murillo appeared to have made the tag at home plate, but the umpire called the runner safe.
 
Malea Maye was 2-for-3 for the game to lead Albany State. The Lady Rams had five total hits, four errors and six runners left on base. Tiffany Massey (11-9) was the losing pitcher.

Albany State generated the game's only points in the bottom of the second inning. Murillo belted a two run homer to score her and Jala Stewart.
 
The Lady Rams' defense did the rest, holding the Lady Cougars to only two hits. Aryn McGowan (11-7) was the winning pitcher.
 
ASU recorded eight hits, two errors and eight LOBs.
 
Albany State will return to action on Tuesday, April 18 when it travels to Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga. The doubleheader is set to begin at 4 p.m.
