Golden Rams lose close contest to Point University

ALBANY, Ga.- The Albany State baseball team had a great chance to secure its first win of the season. However, ASU couldn't finish off the Point University in the late stage of the game. After tying the game late, the Golden Rams dropped a 7-4 decision to the SkyHawks to remain winless.
 
The loss gives Albany State a 0-13 overall record. Point improves to 11-8.
 
Albany State fell into a 1-0 deficit after the first inning and 2-0 after the top of the fourth inning. ASU tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. After a single by Theo Smith and a double by Robbie Feagan, Chasen Roulhac scored them both with a single to right field.
 
After a scoreless fifth inning, Point was able to generate two runs to regain the lead at 4-2. The Golden Rams would cut its deficit once again in the seventh inning. Bryant Prather smashed a double to send Kelvin Wimbish home, and the SkyHawks only led 4-3.
 
Albany State set up the dramatic finish in the eighth inning. Ben Greenstein's double to center field scored Robbie Feagans and tied the score at four. However, PU scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to take the victory.
 
Roulhac finished the game with two hits and two RBIs, and Smith added two hits. Brandon Pearson was the losing pitcher.
 
The Golden Rams collected seven hits, one error and 10 runners left on base.
 
Nathan Greene led Point with three hits, and Juan Reyes and Christian Cabral each had two hits. Drew Ellisto was the winning pitcher.
 
The SkyHawks recorded 11 hits, two errors and seven LOBs.
 
Albany State will travel to
Americus, Ga. on Tuesday, March 7 to face Georgia Southwestern, Game time is set for 4 p.m.
