Golden Rams drop contest to Clark Atlanta

ALBANY, Ga.- After battling from a deficit in its win over Armstrong State on Tuesday, the Albany State baseball team's comeback fell short on Friday afternoon. ASU fell behind early and eventually lost to Clark Atlanta 7-4 in the first game of the three-game series.
 
With the loss, the Golden Rams are now 6-19 overall and 4-3 in the SIAC. CAU improves to 11-13, 5-2.
 
After Clark Atlanta hit a home run on the first pitch of the game, Albany State found themselves behind 4-0. The Panthers added another run in the top of the third inning for a 5-0 edge.
 
In the bottom of the third, ASU scored its first run of the game. Kelvin Wimbish went home to cut Albany State's deficit to 5-1.
 
Robbie Feagans scored in the sixth inning to bring the Golden Rams closer at 5-2. CAU added two runs in the top of the seventh for a 7-2 advantage.
 
Albany State was able to score runs in the seventh and eighth innings, but they could not get closer than the final tally.
 
The Golden Rams only collected five hits for the game. They also had two errors and 12 runners left on base. Tyler Wilcher was the losing pitcher.
 
Jordan Johnson went 2-for-4 to lead Clark Atlanta. Jezree Moore was the winning pitcher.
 
The two teams will continue the series on Saturday, April 1. The doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m.
