Golden Rams lose road contest to Columbus State

COLUMBUS, Ga.- The Albany State baseball team saw its three-game winning streak end in its trip to Columbus. ASU dropped a 10-1 decision to Columbus State on Wednesday afternoon.
 
With the loss, the Golden Rams fall to 4-16 overall, while the Cougars improve to 18-8.
 
After a scoreless first inning, Albany State fell behind after the bottom of the second inning that saw Columbus State score five runs. The Golden Rams scored their only run in the top of the third inning. Lawrence Hyde scored off of Chasen Roulhac's ground out to second base to make the score 5-1.
 
The Cougars were able to pad their lead with four more runs in the seventh and another one in the eighth.
 
The Golden Rams collected three hits, two errors and left five runners on base.  Tyler Wilcher was the losing pitcher.
 
Albany State resumes SIAC conference play when it travels to Columbia, South Carolina March 25-26 to face Benedict College in a three-game series. Saturday's doubleheader and the single game on Sunday begins at 1 p.m.
