Lady Rams extend win streak at SIAC Crossover

JASPER, Ala.- The Albany Stat women's softball team extended its win streak to three games at the SIAC Crossover. ASU claimed two more wins on the second day, defeating LeMoyne-Owen 15-3 and Tuskegee 8-0.
 
The pair of wins gives the Lady Rams an 11-14 overall record and a 7-2 league mark.

Albany State gained the early lead in the first inning and never looked back. Jade Williams scored off Malea Maye' sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead. Then, Toni Coleman's single advanced Danielle Turner to home plate, and Jala Stewart scored Coleman with a double for a 3-0 edge.
 
In the top of the third inning, the Lady Rams to a commanding lead. ASU scored a whopping 11 runs in that time to take a 14-0 advantage. The game ended in the fifth inning due to the eight-run rule.
 
Maye, Turner and Brianna Murillo each recorded two hits and two RBIs to lead Albany State. Williams, Coleman, and Stewart added two hits apiece. Taylor Clemens was the winning pitcher.
 
The Lady Rams collected 14 hits, two errors and eight runners left on base.
 
 
Albany State 8, Tuskegee 0
 
In producing a shutout of the three-time conference champion, Albany State slowly, but surely pulled away during the course of the game. Williams scored the first run of the game off a wild pitch in the first inning, and Tiffany Massey added a run in the second for a 2-0 lead.
 
In the third inning, Malea Maye gave the team a 3-0 lead when she scored off an error. The Lady Rams put the game away in the fourth by scoring five runs and ended the game with the eight-run rule.
 
Albany State recorded five hits, committed no errors and left four errors on base. Tiffany Massey was the winning pitcher.
 
Albany State will finish up crossover action on Saturday, March 18. The team will face Spring Hill College at 12:15 p.m. and Lane College at 4:45 p.m.
