Golden Rams to compete for SIAC tournament title

ALBANY, Ga.- The Albany State men's basketball team has lost its last six games and 10 of the last 11 contests. However, the team will be looking to regroup at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala. when it competes for the 2017 SIAC Men's Basketball Tournament Championship.
                    
The Golden Rams have earned the sixth seed from the SIAC East Division and will face third-seeded SIAC West foe Miles College tonight at 7:45 p.m. The two teams played twice during the regular season, and MC won both games. The Golden Bears won the Jan. 28 contest 91-73 in Fairfield, Ala. before taking the Feb. 11 meeting 64-61 in Albany.
                                         
The winner of the ASU-MC matchup will face the east's second seed Clark Atlanta. That game will take place on Thursday, March 2 at 7:45 p.m.
 
In other tournament action, #3E Benedict and #6W Central State will vie today at 3:15 p.m. The winner will advance to face #2W LeMoyne-Owen on Thursday at 3:15 p.m. The Magicians defeated #7E Paine College on Monday 97-84
 
In competition from Monday, #5E Fort Valley State beat #4W Kentucky State 79-73. The Wildcats advanced to face #1E Claflin on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. In addition, #4E Morehouse defeated #5W Tuskegee 72-55. The Maroon Tigers will vie with #1W Lane on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.
 
All tournament games will be played in the central time zone.
