Lady Rams lose to Columbus State at the Cougar Classic

COLUMBUS, Ga.- The Albany State women's softball team was able to score some runs in their second game of the Cougar Classic. However, the Lady Rams could not stop the hosts from coming across the plate. ASU took an early 2-0 lead, but it could not hold on, losing to Columbus State 10-2.
 
With the loss, Albany State falls to 0-6 overall, and Columbus State improves to 6-2.
 
Albany State scored their runs in the top of the first inning. Jala Stewart's single to left field scored Danielle Turner for a 1-0 lead. Kayla Alexander added the second run off a fielder's choice to give the Lady Rams a 2-0 edge.
 
Columbus State answered ASU's rally by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first stanza. The home team added two runs in the second inning and four more in the third to build a 9-2 advantage. The Lady Cougars scored another run in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game via the eight-run rule.
 
Danielle Turner led Albany State with two hits. The Lady Rams collected two four hits, committed two errors and left five players on base. Aryn McGowan (0-3) was the losing pitcher.
 
Columbus State was led by Keeli Waughn and Elizabeth Perdue. Both player recorded two hits and two RBIs. CSU had four hits, two errors and five runners left on base. Harley Dawson (1-1) was the winning pitcher.
