ALBANY STATE SOFTBALL LOOKING AHEAD TO 2018

Lady Golden Rams Spend Quality Time During Busy Off Season

November 22, 2017

ALBANY- The Albany State University softball team packed a full slate into their 2017-18 off season.

The Lady Golden Rams made a concerted effort during the fall season to concentrate on team building while making an impact on the local community through their outreach efforts.

For community service, ASU participated in Touch a Truck, and served breakfast at the Salvation Army. Four Lady Golden Rams formed a swim team for a community swim event at the YMCA. For the second straight year the team conducted their C.C.C. (creating culture and chemistry) team building where the Lady Golden Rams got to learn about each other outside the field of play.

They also participated in Race to Escape as a part of their team building exercises and sponsored a fall clinic that had a record number of participants, six of whom could possibly sign with the team in the spring.

The Lady Golden Rams will close out the fall semester with their annual Christmas party and secret gift exchange.

On the softball field, ASU went 1-1 and got the newcomers (6 freshman, 1 transfer) a lot of valuable playing time.

The Friday of Homecoming Week, the Lady Golden Rams held an Alumni slow pitch game for the second times in recent memory and the following weekend we had a parents vs. players slow pitch game. ASU also held a fundraising 20/20 letter campaign and helped to sell sponsor signs for the outfield fence.

On the individual front, Head Coach Amber serve as a panelist about recruiting at this year's NFCA Coaches Convention in Las Vegas December 6-9 while senior Danielle Turner was selected for the 2017 NCAA Student-Athlete leadership forum to be held November 16-18 in Washington, DC.

The Lady Golden Rams will open the 2018 season on February 1st against Valdosta State in Albany.
