Albany State Picks Up First SIAC Win of the Season

FRANKFORT, KY- The Albany State Lady Golden Rams captured their first SIAC win of the year with a 74-55 triumph over Kentucky State University Monday evening at the Exum Center.
ASU moves their overall record to 4-3 and their SIAC mark to 1-1.
Albany State began the game on a tear, shooting 58% from the floor in the first quarter. ASU led from the opening tip and an on a 3-pointer by Ashley Johnson at the 4:46 mark, Â the Golden Rams held a 15-2 lead.
The Thorobreds faced a double digit deficit from the first quarter and trailed by as many as 23 (64-41) with 7:55 left in the third quarter. Albany State also dominated the glass with a 47-35 rebounding edge. Brittani Rizzi and Jordan Campbell paced Kentucky State with 14 points apiece. KSU falls to 1-6 overall on the season.
Elesha Foster topped the Lady Golden Rams with 16 points while Johnson contributed 13 points. Shantrell Holland led ASU's rebounding effort with 10 boards all on the defensive end.
The Lady Golden Rams will play at home for the first time on Thursday as a part of a SIAC doubleheader against Claflin University. Game time is scheduled for 5:30pm at West Campus Arena.
