Albany State Wins Third Straight Road Game

CARROLLTON, GA- The Albany State University Lady Golden Rams fought back from a double digit deficit to capture a 69-65 win over West Georgia 69-65 Monday night.

In the midst of a seven game road swing to start the 17-18 season, the win over West Georgia gives ASU their third straight victory after opening the season 0-2.
The Lady Golden Rams used a 21-4 run in the fourth quarter to overcome a 15 point deficit. Ashley Johnson's three-pointer with 4:16 left tied the game at 57 all. Kayla Green then hit a layup with 3:39 remaining to put ASU in front for good.

Albany State had four of five starters net double figures with Shantrell Holland, Elesha Foster and Kayla Green scoring 11 points apiece while Ashley Johnson finished with a team high 12 points. Alexandria James also chipped in with 11 points off the bench.

Kilah Nixon nailed a three-pointer as the first quarter expired to give the Wolves a two point lead. West Georgia then went on to outscore ASU 19-10 in the second quarter to take a 36-35 lead at the intermission. In the third, the Wolves closed the quarter on a 10-2 run, capped by a layup and put-back by Terrianna Cave, to take their largest lead of the 53-38.
