Albany State Overcomes 22 point Deficit to Earn First Win

AMERICUS, GA- The Albany State University Lady Golden Rams captured a thrilling come from behind win to notch their first victory of the 2017-18 season.
ASU rallied from down 22 points down to topple the host Georgia Southwestern Canes 76-70 Friday night at the PBC/SIAC Challenge.
After trailing at the end of the first quarter 27-10, the Lady Golden Rams outscored GSW in each of the final three quarters to earn their first win of the season. The triumph came from a 36-25 rebounding edge which included 13 offensive boards and a 12-3 advantage in second chance points.
Elesha Foster scored a game high 22 points and Kayla Green went for 21 points off the bench for Albany State.
Georgia Southwestern enjoyed its biggest lead of the game at 42-20 with 3:25 left in the first half when Gabby Figgers nailed a three pointer. However that was the last basket of the quarter for GSW as the Lady Golden Rams closed out the final three minutes with a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 13 (42-29 at the break. Â Â Â
The Lady Golden Rams also made the most of their time at the free throw line, converting 19 of 28 attempts. ASU held GSW to just 11 points in the third quarter and had an offensive burst of 28 points in the final quarter.
Albany State (1-2) will face Columbus State tomorrow at 5pm in the final day of the PBC/SIAC Challenge.
