Lady Golden Rams Slip to 0-2 on the Year

VALDOSTA, GA- The Valdosta State University Blazers improved to 2-0 overall with a 76-47 win over Albany State University Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers used a dominant performance on the boards to control the pace of the game. VSU out-rebounded ASU 52-30, including 20 offensive rebounds that led to 24 second chance points. Kenya Samone' Dixon led the way with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Blazers. Aaliyah Cheatham and Kia Perry chipped in with 12 apiece while Maddy Corazza finished one point shy of a double-double with 9 points and game high 9 boards.

After taking a 37-27 led at halftime, the Blazers held the Lady Golden Rams to just eight points in the third quarter. Albany State was just 2-15 (13%) from the floor in the third stanza and Valdosta went on to pad their lead in the final quarter, outscoring the Rams 24-12.

None of the Lady Golden Rams registered double figures in the loss to VSU.

Albany State will return to action on November 17-18 at the SIAC-Peach Belt Challenge hosted by Georgia Southwestern University. ASU will face the hosts on Friday at 7pm and will square off against Columbus State Saturday at 5pm.
