VALDOSTA STATE DEFEATS ALBANY STATE 100-76

PENSACOLA, FL- Valdosta State University used a big second half to capture a 100-76 win over Albany State University Sunday afternoon at the South Region Crossover.
All five starters for VSU scored in double figures, including Beau Justice and Tyrone Sam who finished with 21 and 20 points, respectively.
The Blazers (2-0) made 20 of 29 shots (69%) from the floor on their way to 57 points in the second half. Most significant was their three-point accuracy as they connected on 9-11 from beyond the three-point arc. Valdosta finished with 16 made three-pointers in the game.
In the first half the two teams exchanged the lead 7 times until the Blazers, beginning at the 15:27 mark reeled off a 16-2 run to take command of the game. Valdosta would hold a double digit advantage the rest of the way. The Golden Rams were 10-32 from the field and trailed 43-27 at halftime.
Albany State outscored Valdosta in bench points 46-11, led by
JaDon Davis' 21 points as a reserve.
Branielus Ross also contributed double digits off the bench with 13 points for the Golden Rams while
Rahdin Hughes was the only starter in double figures with 12 points.
