Albany State Men Look to Take a Leap Forward This Season

ALBANY, GA- The Albany State University men's basketball team will begin the 2017-18 season this afternoon in Pensacola, FL.

The Golden Rams will face off against hosts from the University of West Florida as a part of the South Region Crossover November 11-12 at UWF Fieldhouse. Albany State in seeking its first ever win over the Argonauts (0-4); in their meeting last season at the GSC-SIAC Challenge the Golden Rams fell to West Florida 72-63.

The Golden Rams return six players from last year's roster: Khaliq Hughes, Juwan High, Jayson Snearl, Randy McClure, JaDon Davis, and Tylen Walker. Albany State, coming off a 10-19 (SIAC 5-13) last season, was picked to finish 6^th in Eastern Division in this year's Preseason Predicted Order of Finish.

Hughes averaged 10.5 points per game last season and will be ASU's top returning scorer. He also led the Golden Rams in assists at 3.6 per outing an average that ranked 6^th in the SIAC. McClure will be Rams' top rebounder from a year ago, pulling down just under 6 boards per contest last season.
