ASU VOLLEYBALL RALLIES PAST TUSKEGEE IN FOUR SETS

ALBANY, GA- Albany State University rallied from behind to defeat Tuskegee University in four sets (23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-14) Wednesday evening at HPER Gymnasium.
With the win the Lady Golden Rams sit atop the SIAC East with a 12-3 mark in conference play and remain unblemished in division play (7-0).
Chelona Holmes paced ASU with a match high 13 kills while
Jannai Cheeks put up a 10 kill effort.
Jahkishma Soto led the Golden Rams' offensive attack with 38 assists and along with Jaleisa McClenton shared game high honors in digs with 14 apiece.
The Golden Tigers (4-20, SIAC 4-9) came out upset minded and capitalized off of ASU's unforced errors to take the first set 25-23. In the opening set the Lady Golden Rams committed 11 errors against 15 kills while TU coasted behind a 4 kill, zero error performance by Jessica Johnson.
ASU reversed their fortunes in the second set (25-21) and cruised to take the final two 25-16,25-14.
Defensively the Lady Golden Rams stifled Tuskegee's attack game, holding the Golden Tigers to a negative hitting percentage over the final two sets. ASU posted a total of 11.0 team blocks including 14 assisted blocks. Crystal Hall finished with a team best 9 kills in a losing effort for Tuskegee.
ASU will return to action in a tri-match against Paine College and Morris College on Saturday, October 21
