Lady Golden Rams Sweep Paine and Morris College in Straight Sets

AUGUSTA, GA- The Albany State University volleyball team picked up two wins at a tri-match hosted by Paine College Saturday afternoon.

In their first match of the day, the Lady Golden Rams used a balanced attack to dispose of Paine College in straight sets 25-19, 25-15, 25-19. With the win ASU sweeps the season series over the Lady Lions and moved their record to 13-3 in the SIAC.  Brittianni Phillips led the way for Albany State with a match high 8 kills while Janna Cheeks chipped in with 7 kills. The Lady Golden Rams limited Paine (2-16, SIAC 1-11) to single digits in team kills in each of the three sets and posted +20 on offense in total kills (38-18).

In their final contest of the afternoon, ASU made quick work of Morris College, downing the Lady Hornets in straight sets 25-10, 25-10, 25-12. Albany State amassed only 8 kills in the game as they remain winless on the season at 0-11.

Keonna Hobbs matched Morris' team total with 8 kills while Cheeks, Chelona Holmes and Jordan Stuckey each had 7 kills apiece in the non-conference triumph.
